My story
Hi, I’m Kaycee.
At seventeen, I was playing and dealing at underground poker tables in Los Angeles. By nineteen, I had graduated from dealer school and was dealing the city’s most exclusive private games. I went on to deal Molly Bloom’s game, and for seven years after that, I dealt a private weekly game for some of the most prestigious men in the world.
From my seat at the center of the table, I studied how the players approached the game with the hands they were dealt. I watched who stayed composed as fortunes swung and who seemed to rise to every moment. The best of them knew exactly when to hold, when to fold, and when to go all in. I saw bluffs played with the conviction of an unbeatable hand. I often reflected on what a powerful metaphor poker is for life. Years later, when I discovered Human Design, I found exactly what I had been searching for: a practical framework for how to play the game of life, given how uniquely each of us is designed.
Years of late nights, chasing the thrill and meeting the relentless demands of high stakes games, began to take a toll on my soul. The rush was hard to resist, but it was slowly draining my spirit. Then one night in Los Angeles, crossing Wilshire Boulevard on foot, I was struck by a car going forty miles an hour and left unconscious in the street with broken bones.
That moment set my life on an entirely new trajectory: a search for the meaning and purpose of my existence. I worked with shamans, healers, and sacred plant medicines to expand my consciousness, went back to school to earn a master’s in Spiritual Psychology from the University of Santa Monica, and studied the teachings of Kabbalah. I traveled to Bali twice to study yoga and meditation, where I completed a 300 hour yoga teacher training and learned to guide others through deep transformational, inner, and somatic work. All the while, I was still dealing high stakes poker from the evenings into the early mornings. Living between those two worlds gave me a rare capacity: to remain clear and unshakable under extreme pressure while dealing million dollar hands, and to hold space for people at both their highest highs and their lowest lows.
One day it became clear it was time to fold my poker hand and pursue my dream of being of service in a more satisfying way. I didn’t yet know exactly what that would look like, but I had a strong sense that walking away from a world that drained me would pay off. I sold everything, from my home in the Hollywood Hills to my Louboutin heels, and traded city life for nature: first beautiful, state of the art treehouses in Washington, and finally Maui.
It was on Maui that Human Design found me. At first I was skeptical. I assumed it was another spiritual chart you read once and forget. It wasn’t. Human Design gave me practical context for every part of my life. Nearly five years later, after experimenting with my own strategy, becoming a certified practitioner, and reading hundreds of charts, I have never seen it fail to ring true. Regardless of a person’s type, strategy, and authority, I continue to observe that we all have a mind, and it is by far the greatest challenge to overcome. Human Design has given me practical tools and a constant reminder of what works when I don’t listen to my mind.
When I first discovered my own chart, I was convinced by its accuracy, because the truth of who I know myself to be, deep down, was right there in front of me in a graph that made sense. In Human Design, the 64 hexagrams of the I Ching are called gates. The Sun represents how you shine, and Pluto represents where you experience transformation. At the moment of my birth, both my Sun, which makes up roughly 70% of my personality and who I think I am, and Pluto, where my personality is meant to bring transformation to others, were positioned in Gate 28: the gate of the Game Player. This stunned me. Suddenly, it all made sense: my consistent energetic pull toward living on the edge was written into my design. I was dealt this hand from the very beginning. The deeper I went into my chart, the more I understood myself and everything that has happened in my life.
More than ten thousand hours taught me how poker is played, and how every move ripples through the entire game, not just the hand in front of you. In the end, what matters is how you play your hand.
More than ten thousand hours of Human Design taught me to wait for life to show me, guide me, and ask me, rather than initiate from my mind. When I respond correctly to what comes to me, according to my inner authority, it becomes clear every time that the outcome reflects a satisfaction I would never sense if I acted from my mind.
It taught me to see my mind, my emotions, and my ego as sources of wisdom, rather than as consistent, reliable guides for action.
Of course, this exact way of being is not everyone’s design. My emotions are not my inner authority, yet for roughly half the population, they are. That is the beauty of this work: every hand is played differently.
Anyone can win. What matters is what lies beneath the win: the deep, unmistakable fulfillment that comes only when you play your own hand correctly. Human Design shows you precisely what that is for you, and how to play for it. Today I work privately with clients who have already mastered the game, and are ready to master how they play it, so they can sense the deepest level of fulfillment simply by being themselves.
